Hello everyone. Thank you for your continued support and kind words. We thought it would be nice to update everyone on Jason’s journey as well as provide any support we can for Jason’s family during this difficult time. Of course, all Kelly (Jason’s Wife) should be focused on is Jason and his recovery. However, we know that our healthcare system just doesn’t allow that and expenses must be paid. Watching that weight build on them is crushing to us all.
Jason was admitted to the ICU at Providence Medical Center in Everett on Monday April 11th after suffering a ruptured aneurism that led to him having a stroke while having a CT scan performed. MRI and CT scans showed no signs of permanent brain damage just slightly slurred speech and limited use of the extremities on his right side. At this point, Jason was expected to make a full recovery with time and physical therapy.
During his stay in the ICU Jason spent most of his time sleeping, while showing improvement with speech and cognitive abilities. After a week’s stay in the ICU Jason was transferred to the stroke recovery unit. Everything was looking good, and he seemed to be returning to the Jason we all know and love. His speech was still slurred but through daily conversations, it seemed to be returning to normal. Everything was pointing to a full recovery in the future.
On Wednesday, April 20th Jason was still complaining of double vison off and on, as well as a persistent headache. Doctors ordered a CT scan, and when they returned to his room, Jason was found hunched over and unresponsive. He had suffered another aneurism that led to a second stroke. He was then rushed back to the ICU where they placed him on a ventilator, and inserted a tube in the back on his head to relieve pressure.
Jason has since been transferred to the ICU at Swedish Medical center in Seattle where he remains sedated on the ventilator. Doctors have performed several surgeries to remove several more aneurism’s they discovered. Jason’s prognosis remains unclear. We may not see changes day to day, and it could be an extremely lengthy recovery. Only time will tell what sort of recovery he will make, but he is an extremely strong and stubborn individual. With the help of our prayers, and his relentless spirit, hopefully he can make a full recovery.
The last time I spoke with Kelly, she had stated he was running a fever and was placed on cooling pads and the plan was to try and take him off the ventilator on 4/23. Upon removal from the ventilator, they will be able to further assess his condition. Jason is lucky to have a great team of doctors at Swedish doing everything they can. The real fight has just begun, but anyone who knows Jason will tell you that if there is any chance to pull through, he has the strength and spirit to do so.
Donations will help Jason through his recovery as he is in for a long journey with rehab, disability, medical bills, and loss of income due to time away from work. Thank you for taking the time to read this. As I receive updates, I will post them here so we can all follow along and fight with Jason to get back to his normal self.
