“I need to pee!” And then another word, which won’t be repeated here!

Those were the first intelligible words I heard my beloved husband, Stan, say, after

almost 48 hours of nothing but darkness and chaos.

Stan had a stroke. For anyone who has had one or loves someone who has had

one, nothing more need be said. It is purely terrifying.

Add to that, that this happened when we were far from home. Now, more than one

week later, we are still far from home because Stan cannot be moved yet, and, to

be honest, we are completely broke. I really don’t know what to say, except:

Can you help us?

Stan is recovering, but slowly. He is very weak, somewhat disoriented, and cannot

swallow. When he is able to go home, he will need more care than I will be able to

provide alone.

Already, so many of our friends and family have been supporting us with prayers

and positive energy and loving thoughts and I know in my heart that these are the

things that will really heal Stan, but the only thing that is going to pay the hospital

bill is cash. It is really hard for me to ask, but I am.
