Dale's Road to Recovery- Back Surgery

Introduction:

Hi! My name is Becca, and I am raising money for my stepdad, Dale, to pay for his upcoming and much-needed back surgery. It's been a very long road, and the severity of Dale's spinal damage almost disqualified him as a candidate for surgery. Still, after enduring several more MRIs and a spinal tap, he finally got the green light! The doctor has told us that this surgery has a success rate of 85%. Dale is the type of person that always takes the shirt off his back to help anyone who needs it. No, seriously, he has done this before. He constantly helps his neighbors by mowing their grass, picking up their groceries, driving them to appointments, etc. He does this all while dealing with debilitating chronic back pain and caring for my mom, who has struggled with a chronic illness. All this to say, Dale is constantly taking care of others and is now in need of some help himself. Please continue reading to see Dale's story and the breakdown of all the costs below.

Dale's Story:

After 22+ years working in the demolition industry, it has caused his spine to deteriorate severely, leading to excruciating back pain. Dale has tried many things to relieve his pain such as nerve blocks, facet shots, epidurals, and what he thought was his final option, which was a spinal stimulator. However, there were complications during the spinal stimulator surgery, which made things much worse than they were to begin with. Dale now has the opportunity to be treated by a top doctor from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Reginald Davis. As mentioned above, his doctor is very hopeful that this surgery will be a success and will give Dale the relief he has long been hoping for.

Breakdown of Costs:

We are hoping to raise $7,000 and I'd like to break down the costs for you. He needs $3,000 to pay towards his deductible for the surgery and $350 for the co-pay to Biospine. This money is just to get in the door and have the surgery done. His surgery is scheduled for July 14th, and he needs this money by July 13th. After the surgery, he will need additional money to help cover the rest of the surgery and their bills, as he will be out of work for 4 to 5 weeks without pay.
