What is GRIT?

In September 2018 JUST GRIT was born! GRIT is a basketball outreach program intended to reach middle and high school students in the Media area. GRIT is an acronym for, God Deserves Respect, Integrity, True Commitment. Youth from our surrounding community meet on Friday nights at Indian Lane Elementary School from 7-9pm throughout the school year.

GRIT is powered through Middletown Church located on South Old Middletown Rd, Media PA.

Our Plan:

This year we are embarking on a new phase of outreach to our community! We want to create a safe space at our church where kids can feel a strong sense of belonging, have fun, and encounter Jesus for themselves. To accomplish this goal, we want to start by revitalizing our youth space. We currently have a youth room in the basement of our church that we would like to see updated.

Our plan is to redo the flooring, paint the walls and ceilings, update the lighting, create a snack bar area, add a gaming area, designate a quiet/prayer space, and offer a freestyle zone with an arts and crafts area. We plan to outfit the space with more modern style furniture found from Facebook marketplace, through thrifting, and discount furniture stores.

Why is this valuable?

Here is why we think this space is critical: we want to see kids prosper, grow, make meaningful connections and know that God loves them and wants a relationship with them. In an era where our society is hyperconnected digitally, our kids still struggle to find real life connections that are life giving and positive.
