Recently, the CDC has announced that nursing homes are at the highest risk for contracting COVID-19 due to the proximity in which patients are treated and the patients themselves, who are usually older and have underlying health problems, which put them at a higher risk if they contract COVID-19.
Although hospitals and other emergency care facilities are getting lots of press about lack of PPE (personal protection equipment), such as masks, nursing homes are also in need to PPE themselves.
I am trying to raise enough money to acquire 2,400 masks for nursing homes. The masks cost approximately $25 per box of 50 masks. These are disposable procedural masks. These masks will be provided to the nurses, nursing assistants, dieticians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and pharmacists who are working in direct contact with the nursing home residents.
This campaign will help fund two nursing homes, in the San Pablo and Richmond area. These areas are underserved and are especially in need of these PPE that will prevent transmission of the virus to the vulnerable population in the nursing homes. I understand that these are hard times for all of us, but any donation is welcome and 100% of proceeds will go towards providing PPE (masks in particular) for these nursing homes in need. Thank you for your support.
