Losing a sibling is never easy.  Unfortunately my family lost my younger brother Kris when he was just 26 years old due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes.  Seeing him suffer in the hospital inspired my sister Sheila to completely change careers and become a nurse.

My name is Angela Paul and I am Sheila's sister.  I want to tell you about a recent event that took Sheila from being a nurse to a patient, and it is the reason I'm asking for your help.

On the morning of January 21st 2020, Sheila was driving on the Florida Turnpike during rush hour traffic.  As she came to a stop on the exit she saw something that brought her instant terror and panic.  A Ford F150 was bearing down on her going approximately 70+ miles per hour and not slowing down.  She knew she had no time to react and was trapped.  In an instant she was struck from behind with such force it literally knocked the shoes off her feet.

In the meantime our Mother text me see hadn't seen Sheila's car move for over 20 minutes via her Finds Friends app.  We feared something was wrong.  The next moment I got the call no family member wants to get and I learned Sheila had been involved in a horrific car accident.  My heart jumped into my throat and a wave of emotion overcame me as I feared I would lose a second sibling.

We all say she had very special guardian angels that day and believe both our Dad and Brother protected her.  She sustained multiple serious injuries but miraculously she was able to leave the hospital after about a week.   She couldn't stand, walk or bathe herself without assistance.  It's been a slow road to recovery and she still has a ways to go, but through it all she has shown strength and determination.

After being a nurse for almost 15 years Sheila has seen the struggles other families have had to endure.  Until the accident Sheila was working as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse.  Sadly she's held infants as they've passed away in her arms, and has given her heart to Mothers and their babies.  Now the roles have been reversed she she was the one being cared for.

Fast forward to July and she still suffers pain from her injuries and her foot is still broken.  Unfortunately, she is not physically able to return to work yet.  She has depleted all her savings and is running out of money for her basic living expenses.

Today I am asking for donations to assist Sheila in paying for her mortgage, utilities and food for the next 3 months.  If you know Sheila, she is fiercely independent and reluctant to ask for help, which is why I am telling her story and asking for your support.  I hope this will help ease her burden so she can focus on her recovery and get through these challenging times.

We humbly ask you share this link with friends and family, and if possible donate to her fund, any amount will help.

Sincerest Thanks.
