Programmer by trade, phillanthropist by nature, the two disciplines find themsevles at odds in my current condition: I've broken my right hand, and can't afford the surgery to get it back to 100%. 

Normally such a burden would be one I shouldered quietly, but my generosity over the last year has left me in an exposed and vulnerable place, fiscally.  I need my hand to do my work, but the surgery is quite expensive.

I'd rather be the helper, not the helpee, but such is life sometimes.  I guess I've got to give you guys a chance to give back 8)
