Family Expenses with Recent Death

Donation protected

My father is Roger Bentley, 58 years old, born and raised in Big Stone Gap, VA but lived most of his life in Kingsport, TN. He has been married to my mother for 28 years, together they raised my sister and me into adulthood. He had 3 grandchildren: a 9 year old grandson, a 1 year old grandson, and a 6 month old granddaughter.
On March 5, 2016 my mother and I took my daughter to the ER to be treated for an ear infection. Dad was home alone for about 2-3 hours and didnt seem to be having any types of medical problems before we left. Upon returning home that night, from outside where I was unloading my daughter and her carseat from the car, I could hear my mom yelling dad's name..I ran inside where I found my dad laying in the floor with his legs upwards to the stairs. We assume while we were away he fell down the stairs. I immediately called 911, the paramedics said he may have fractured his skull. At the hospital, a surgeon was called in to perform emergency brain surgery due to swelling and to remove the blood from around his brain. The right side of his skull was removed to allow for swelling of his brain. After surgery he was placed on a ventilator and in the intensive care unit. At first he was responsive to pain but after a few days became very unresponsive to anything. Dad was on the ventilator and a feeding tube for 9 days before the doctors explained they had done basically all they could do and that we should start talking as a family & about what my dad would want as far as removing the life support. We all knew my father was a hard working, very independent man who only wanted what he could get on his own. Dad had even verbally told several family members that if anything ever happened to him he wouldn't want to be on life support or any types of machines. On March 14 we made the decision to remove the life support, the doctors didn't expect him to live but only a couple hours. He was breathing well on his own for a while, after a day of doing fairly well on his own they moved him into hospice care at the hospital. Still unresponsive and his breathing slowly shallowing he stayed in hospice care until today March 20 when he took his final breath...
I've decided to post for these donations to help my mother with family expenses, the memorial service, vehicle maintanence, and things of that nature.
My family hasn't always had everything but my father took pride in what he did have, he was a kind, loving, family man who always found a way to provide for us. He took joy in being the sole provider for all of us and being the "go to guy" when we needed anything he could possibly help us with. Dad would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was and always will be loved by many friends and family nearby and far away. We expect to provide a small memorial with cremation services within the next few days.
AGAIN, I'm only posting as a way to possibly raise funds to help my mother with typical family type expenses and to help my family get on their feet financially...
Thanks to everyone for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers for my father and our family, every donation will be greatly appreciated!
