Research has proven that certain types of dogs are very beneficial to people suffering from type 1 diabetes. With proper training, some of the benefits include early detection of high and low glucose levels, therapeutic needs, and as with all dogs, companionship.
In December of 2014, we learned that our son Lukas had type 1 diabetes. He is now almost six, and it has definitely been a rocky road since his diagnosis. After consulting with medical professions and other people utilizing these type of dogs, we have determined that Lukas would benefit from one of these dogs.
Since these therapeutic animals are very costly, considering the purchase and training, we are requesting assistance with providing this type of care for him. If you feel inclined to make a pledge, we would appreciate any financial assistance in this endeavor.
