Postcards from the Arctic

$3,260 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 28 people in 6 months
POSTCARDS FROM THE ARCTIC  is  a fundraiser to support Michelle Dussault  and her protagonist IOWA STARR.

In September 2019 they will be traveling to the High Arctic, aboard a tall ship on a mission to retrieve the last Gogo drift seed from the Svalbard Seed Vault. If all goes well (does it ever?) they will save the planet from ocean acidification. If not they will have a good time trying!

Iowa & Michelle need to raise $5000 dollars for their Arctic Circle residency. They will explore the Svalbard Archipelago and Arctic Ocean aboard a research vessel, with international artists and scientists.

You are invited to follow along on their Arctic adventure.

In gratitude all donors will receive polar-factoids and related audio-visual content from Iowa and Michelle during their High Arctic adventure.

$30 - a polar-factoid postcard from IOWA during her sail to the High Arctic.

$50 - a hand-drawn polar-factoid postcard from IOWA during her sail to the High Arctic.

$75 - a hand-made accordion book with seismographic drawings, factoids and collage elements, made during her sail to the High Arctic.

$100 - a hand-made accordion book with seismographic drawings, factoids and collage element, and a hand-drawn polar-factoid postcard made aboard the research vessel during its sail to the High Arctic.

$200 - one of IOWA's daily glacier drawings (pencil or mixed media on paper) with a factoid from a field scientist on the back.

$700 - receive a 5-hour accordion book train-drawing  from the Bergen-Oslo line.

$1000 - receive a dinner (8 person max) and a live presentation at your place or in Manchester, Vermont.

Best wishes, big sails, and happy trails,
Michelle Dussault  and IOWA STARR

This fundraiser has been an unexpectedly sweet process. It's already given me an new relationship with visual art. Me and Iowa (my fictional protagonist) can't wait to make Arctic inspired art for our donors. We have been busy gathering supplies to take with us on our Arctic adventure. Thank you!

We've been making accordion books for Iowa's Arctic adventure. She will fill them with doodles and seismographic drawings while aboard a traditionally rigged Barkentine tall ship. Want one? Specify when you make a $75+ donation.
Next stop Svalbard!
