THE HOPELESS HIPSTER!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Neen. I am the mother of two beautiful young men, Zac 19 and Flynn 17. We are creating this campaign for their dad, Michael Anderson. He is a 48 years old, dedicated Dad who is currently crippled with pain, desperately in need of two new hips. (HENCE- THE HOPELESS HIPSTER CAMPAIGN!) He has always been a hard worker and most recently ran his own display home property maintenance business, which fell in a hole with a heap of money owed to him, when Waterson Homes went into liquidation in 2017. He has since struggled with mental health and physical health! He was first given some bad advice from the hip surgeon at an unmentionable hospital who said to hold out as long as possible as he was too young for a hip replacement that would probably only last 15 years. His hips have rapidly declined since then as he attempted to continue work in a labouring capacity until he could no longer hold a job. Then Covid came along and as we all know...made those long hospital waiting lists even longer. A new doctor seeing his condition and escalating need for pain management sent him to a new specialist who immediately recognised that he had been born with hip dysplasia which had never previously been identified. He was referred to a new surgeon to address the problem with two fancy custom-built new hips, and he had a surgery date lined up for July 2022. He applied for access to his Superannuation to pay for the operation and get back into work to begin replacing his Super. A giant mess up in communication and systems between the Taxation Department and Super has dragged on for over 12 months with the operation on hold until funds are cleared. Crazily they approved the rehabilitation funding request, but not the double hip operation, I believe because the amount requested is too high a percentage of his Super funds. His confidence has taken a beating, and while he has a desire to do good things in the world he is struggling to get moving in the right direction. (Yes literally and metaphorically!) He has great difficulty accepting the help that he needs, insisting he is not a cripple (but he is!) -Hoping there are some people out there with some spare pocket money who understand the debilitating pain of worn-out hips.. Help a loser get back on his feet (without crutches). (I have been prompting him to create a support site called Losers Inc (Losers R Us was already taken!) as a platform for sharing our struggles and embarrassments in life, with honesty and or humour- in resistance to the picture-perfect ideas that social media can promote, that can leave people feeling more of a failure than ever!) For example, in retrospect, we realise we should have had private health insurance, and we wouldn't be in this predicament, but it's a bit late to realise that now! All we can offer- is our creativity in return for donations. Mike is talented with ideas for optimising space and design in renovating. Zac can offer personalised basketball tuition, and Flynn can offer some Gaming tuition. I can offer personalised portraits and a personalised song written and recorded for someone special! Just indicate your preference and at the end of the campaign, we will draw the winners, as an appreciation for helping out with this cause. We appreciate ANY donation to the cause because cashing in aluminium cans is not going to get him far!!!
