This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to bring myself to write…

My sweet boy, Louie, has been diagnosed with cancer, a heart murmur, & has undergone battling a urinary tract infection for months. After many tearful conversations & some very difficult choices being dealt: we have come to the heartbreaking realization that the kindest thing we can do for him now, is to let him rest peacefully.

Louie isn’t just a cat—he’s the 1st commitment I made as a young adult, he’s my beloved best friend, he built our entire family from the ground up. He’s been my comfort on the hardest days, a familiar presence through so many seasons of life, & a light to everyone who’s had the chance to love him. He is always been the soul to take care of me, be there as a presence when almost the entire world feels out of reach. His love has touched more lives than we ever expected, & that love is something we’ll carry froward with us, forever.

The cost of a gentle, compassionate euthanasia—along with the necessary veterinary care leading up to it—is estimated to be between $800 and $1,000. With the holiday season here, finances are incredibly tight. This has come up on us quickly, causing quite a stress to find any spare savings. With the winter hitting so harshly: it forces us in a bind to be unable to host a proper burial, leaving us with only the option of collecting his ashes.

This is not an easy thing to ask. All we want is for Louie to pass without pain, fear, or stress—surrounded by love & comfort in his final moments. He has an incredible story: he has been the absolute best big brother to each of his 5 younger siblings, but his special bond with his brother, Junior: is forever a love story that I hold immense gratitude towards getting the opportunity to be apart of & share together. Lou was always watching out for his siblings - and his dad- he was always available to offer cuddles to anyone. He was always wanting to be included & involved in each project going on. He insisted on being able to have just any the tiniest taste of any flavoured potato chip - you think he was the creator of Potatoes. He was always happily one of the 1st to greet me as I came home each day. He has lived through some of the most important chapters of my life, being apart of some of the most cherished experiences that I hold dear to my heart. He had all the love, joy, peace to give out: always.

All I Need for Christmas is peace for Louie.

Peace from pain. Peace from confusion.

Peace in knowing he was deeply loved until the very end, being surrounded by all those who cherish him.

If you’re able to donate, share, or keep Louie in your thoughts - any little bit of kindness that can be offered: it truly means more than words can express. Thank you for helping us give him the dignity & peace he deserves

***If any extra funds are raised, we plan to bring those donations to each of the local animal shelters to support any in-house pets and hopefully find their fur-ever home through the holiday season. ❄️
