Everesting for Emergencies for No Kid Hungry

Our world is in a crisis. Due to school closures in response to COVID-19, millions of children across America are struggling to be fed properly on a daily basis. We are going take action to help them through the non-profit, No Kid Hungry

From No Kid Hungry: "Nearly 22 million low-income kids from communities across the country rely on the free and reduced-price meals they receive at school. For many, these meals may be the only nutritious food that they’ll receive on a given day." This amounts to nearly 1 BILLION meals, and counting, that kids in-need are missing out on.

On April 25th, 2020, a whole bunch of crazy cyclists around the globe will be taking on the coveted "Everesting Challenge". This means that these crazy cyclist people will be riding up and down one climb of their choosing until they reach 29,029 feet (8,848 meters) of elevation gain. All in ONE RIDE. Our suffering and courage in completing this journey are inspired by this urgent and necessary cause.

Noah Hayes and Ethan Frankel started Everesting For Emergencies in February to positively impact the greater good through cycling.

Donor Information:
Please write the name of the rider you are "sponsoring" in the comment section and let them know you donated.

Suggested donor levels -

> $100 = Hero/Heroine status. Receive a personalized thank you email and social media shoutout. Equivalent to about 1,000 meals.
> $60 = 600 meals. 29,029 or 8,848 meters (an entire Mt. Everest!!)
> $30 = helps with 300 meals and sponsors your athlete for 1/2 of an Everest
> $10 = help provide 100 meals for hungry children in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic
> $5 = 2,418 feet or 737 meters (1/12th of an Everest)

Rider Information:
This is a time for communities to come together to make a difference. This is a time for YOU to make a difference. By doing what you love: riding your bicycle. A lot.

What: The Everesting Challenge involves riding one climb in one go. However long it takes, however many repetitions, whatever distance. As long as it’s one climb and you reach 29,029 feet of vertical, you have achieved the Everesting Challenge!

When: Saturday, April 25, 2020

Time: 4am (recommended start time) until completion

Where: Any climb of your choosing -  road, mountain, or virtual.

Why:  We are raising money for No Kid Hungry, a non-profit organization that curbs child hunger in America. Outside of riding for an outstanding cause to impact our world, we are all in tough times and in need of a tangible, realistic, and imminent goal. There are no races or organized rides for the foreseeable future. We want you to get motivated to train and to peak for April 25th.

> The beauty of Everesting is that it is inherently individual. Even if you start with a couple of friends, by the time you are done, you have undergone this journey alone. Thus, under current restrictions, we believe this is the next best thing to a Gran Fondo. If not better.

> Tell your coach you want to peak for April 25th. You're gonna want to train for this one.

> Read up on tips for your ride HERE, and rules for the ride HERE. These are the Everesting Challenge's official guidelines.

How: To participate, ask your friends/family/community to directly donate to our campaign (make sure they comment your name so we can tally the donors and shout you out). Email, word-of-mouth, and sharing on  social media are all recommended. A personal donation of $20 is encouraged.

Then, get out and Everest on April 25th! Tag us and the event using the below social media tags.

Other Rider Information:

> Set a goal that you think is attainable (we suggest at least $100, or 20 donors).

> Are Virtual Rides accepted? YES! Read the rules at everesting.cc/virtual-everesting-rules.

> Practice proper social distancing, per CDC guidelines, even if you are planning on starting the ride with other people.
