Josh Wiest
Donation protected
The purpose of this Go Fund Me effort is to assist the Josh and Stacy Wiest family of Wishek, North Dakota with ongoing medical and personal expenses associated with Josh Wiest’s ongoing medical battle. Josh, a Wishek High School Science teacher and assistant football coach, has been battling severe abdominal pain for approximately 5 years. This past summer a Bismarck medical team found the culprit of a perforated colon (a ruptured hole) causing there to be a large abscess encapsulated in his pelvis. A part of Josh’s colon was removed which ended his pain. However, the infection from the perforation was not cleared up all the way like the medical team had thought.
Approximately a month after Josh’s surgery he started developing very high fevers and was being treated with antibiotics that worked initially but eventually he became septic (infection in his bloodstream.) The infection has now moved into his heart causing endocarditis (inflammation and infection in his heart) that is now spitting septic emboli (blood clots) into his lungs. Josh is not responding to the antibiotics like the doctors hoped he would and is now requiring more extensive testing to figure out why this is happening. He is requiring supplemental oxygen to breath due to the pulmonary embolisms and still experiencing daily fevers. The next step is a bone marrow biopsy to figure out why his body is not fighting the infection as well as a leukocyte scan to find the main source of infection.
Josh is a husband to Stacy who is a longtime Wishek nurse and dad to two daughters, Kya and Camden. He is active in the Wishek Fire Department, a member of the Wishek Park Board and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Josh’s commitment to his family, students and lifelong community of Wishek is respected and known by many and this effort is give back to a family who always gives to others.
Any amount donated will go directly to the Wiest family for medical and personal expenses. Your prayers for Josh’s complete healing and strength for their family during this time are felt and appreciated. Thank you.
