Hello Team Shultz.

If you’re reading this then you know Steve Shultz was recently diagnosed with brain cancer, Stage 4 Glioblastoma. It also means you’re looking for a way to help. Thank you! This diagnosis and stark reality for this husband and father of two will present some significant challenges for him, his wife Andrea (“Andie”) and their kids Abby (20) and Noah (14), including financial ones. That’s why this campaign was created. Steve has a growing medical team of extraordinary people within the Sutter Health and UCSF systems. Unfortunately, all the tests, imaging, evaluations, second opinions and treatments are not wholly covered by insurance. There will be many out-of-pocket co-pays and balances. We’re hoping to bridge the gap between what insurance will cover and what Steve and Andie cannot. We’re also looking to cover any unexpected or surprise financial obligations.

Steve has already had two brain surgeries to remove most of the tumor in his brain and to relieve pressure inside his head. He’ll be undergoing another surgical procedure at UCSF soon and will then start radiation and chemotherapy. The Shultz Family is also exploring available clinical trials and alternative therapies that could benefit Steve. Those options tend to not be covered by insurance.

The Shultz Family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support so far. As many of you know Steve and Andie are usually the ones providing support, love, and care to others. Their self-less efforts with Granite Springs Church, Gathering Inn, Boy Scouts (add more if you like) are being redirected in kind to them as this generous and kind community takes up their support. It’s truly inspiring. Steve and Andie would appreciate any amount you can contribute to help pay for the inevitable medical expenses mentioned above.
