The Displaced Family Fund

Donation protected
A family of five has been displaced by fire since April 22, 2020, during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. A single father was raising his four children in their family home when a fire broke out in the middle of the night on Detroit's westside. The family was unable to receive much-needed resources and there was no insurance on the home. The father has spent all of his savings keeping the family out of homeless shelters and feeding the family, as they’ve been in a hotel. However, his funds are near-complete depletion. This is a family crisis in the midst of our global crisis.

There are major repairs needed for re-occupancy. The home will need roof repairs, electrical throughout, new walls, and a furnace. While we already are receiving donations for hotel accommodations, we have not received enough to maintain the family’s stay for the duration of progress and work that needs to be done to rebuild the home. We need your help to make this happen.

You can help rebuild this family home because no donation is too small and certainly there is none that’s too big. The estimated cost of labor and materials is $32,000. Your support is the key to helping this family to move back into their home. We would like to have this family in their home no later than Labor Day and the start of school.
