Save the Van!
Donation protected
My son, Beau James LaManna, is 37 years old. While serving in the United States Marine Corps, he was deployed to the Middle East 3 times and served aboard a Navy ship that aided Indonesia after the tsunami. After completing 5 years of service, he came home to Ohio with his wife Beatrice, also a Marine vet.
In 2006, he began to feel ill. Hospital tests resulted in a blood sugar reading over 1000 and a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. He worked through it, eventually moving to Southern California in January 2018 with his wife and two children.
In December 2018, Beau’s vision began to blur. Within 1 month, he could no longer drive. Being 10 days shy of 1 year at his job, he was unable to collect disability through work. They packed up and moved back to Ohio.
He was denied Social Security and VA disability due to still having partial vision, but after several unsuccessful surgeries, he is now legally blind and walks with the help of a white cane. Given their lack of income, they are now about to lose their van.
I was hesitant and probably waited too long to ask for help. Friends suggested GO-FUND-ME. The van needs some minor work, tires and loan payments.
We so sincerely appreciate any help to save their transportation. Both SS and VA are in the appeal process, but that could take months and we can’t wait any longer.
Your prayers and encouragement are so greatly appreciated. God bless you! We love you all! Thank you.
