In January of this year, my father, Robby, was diagnosed with a recurrence of squamous cell carcinoma affecting his tongue and lymph nodes. What followed has been a sudden and incredibly difficult journey for him and our family.

Just two weeks ago, Robby underwent an emergency 12-hour surgery as the cancer was rapidly spreading and causing excruciating pain. During this major operation, half of his tongue and 34 lymph nodes were removed, followed by an extensive tongue reconstruction.

While the surgery itself was successful, the road to recovery has been long and complex. Robby has remained hospitalized since the surgery, undergoing additional treatments and procedures. He now faces significant physical healing, including extensive scarring from jaw to jaw and throughout his neck, as well as from the transplant site itself.

Though his doctors remain optimistic, there is still a long road ahead. In the coming weeks, Robby will begin an intensive two-month treatment plan that includes daily radiation and chemotherapy as part of his fight to fully overcome this cancer.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of the overwhelming medical expenses already incurred, as well as those still to come. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward his care and continued treatment.

We also ask that you join us in prayer for Robby during this time. Specifically, we are praying that:

• The Lord will fully and completely heal Robby from all cancer

• The recovery from the surgery itself will go well and without complication

• The side effects, both short and long term, of the chemo and radiation be minimal

• The Lord will guide and direct Robby’s entire care team

• Robby will regain full ability to eat, swallow, taste and enjoy food

• Robby’s speech will be restored to its original form

• The Lord will surround Robby with His peace and comfort and bind away any and all anxiety that arises throughout this process

• The Lord will bind away any frustration that may arise as Robby learns how to speak and eat again

• The Lord will provide comfort and guidance to our family throughout this process
