I am Jane Smith-Stage and I’m establishing this GoFundMe campaign for Robyn Seyler, an amazing daughter, mom, friend and cosmetologist! After years of giving to others, she is the one with an urgent need.
4 years ago we moved to the Pensacola, FL area and were looking for a hair stylist and colorist. Our family medical doctor has great hair so we asked him for a referral and that is where our personal story began with Robyn .
Robyn is a kind, funny and very talented prson who always seems cool, calm and collected. In the background, Robyn is the single mother of a disabled daughter and Robyn’s mother, who lives with Robyn, is 82 with debilitating Parkinson’s disease. You can imagine her financial challenges as a single self-employed stylist and colorist.
2 years ago Robyn began experiencing back and leg pain and over time, her back began to curve. She was diagnosed with sudden adult onset neuromuscular scoliosis. She went from normal mobility to being bent sideways and having to use a cane. This condition prevents her from carrying a full client load unless experiencing severe pain. Given her family responsibilities and connection to her clients, it is difficult to cut back on her clients.
Good news: after meeting with the neurological team at the Oshner Medical Center in New Orleans, Robyn is having surgery on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
The list of procedures and follow up is beyond my comprehension and pronunciation abilities, but here’s a partial list: T-4 pelvis fusion and multi-level TLIF (Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion). Steel rods, screws, potential blood transfusions, ICU, meds and a recovery time of 6-12 months.
Your donation will help cover Robyn’s costs for recovery down time, care for her daughter and mother and uncovered medical costs. As you can imagine, you will also provide much-needed peace of mind.
I look forward to posting a fully-recovered picture in 2021, thanks to each of you.
