Emergency surgery for Dennis
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michaela. My partner and I had to take our cat, Dennis, to the emergency vet on March 19th because he was throwing up blood. They did an examination and found out he had a urinary blockage which is fatal in male cats if not treated in 2-3 days. The emergency vet wanted to try a catheter procedure before trying surgery which cost $6,000. Unfortunately Dennis reblocked immediately when the catheter was removed. This meant we had to do surgery. The emergency vet performed another bladder drainage before taking him to get the surgery that was $500. The PU surgery itself was another $6,000. After his surgery we had to purchase all new litter and the vet is also recommending a prescription diet that is roughly $100 a bag. As a young couple, this has set us back quite a lot on top of my student loans. We obviously didn't have this kind of money on hand so we had to open up a care credit card with an interest rate of 30% if not paid back in full in 6 months.
Our cats truly are our children and we wanted to do everything we could to save Dennis so the surgery was absolutely necessary to save him from kidney failure and/or a bladder rupture. With the surgery done, Dennis is recovering and future blockages should be able to pass without issue but we are scrambling to try to find out some way to pay this back. Any amount that can be donated truly can help and Dennis and I would greatly appreciate it
