Seeking Justice for Joe

Donation protected
Joe’s family needs your help. On January 25, 2018 at the age of 24, Joseph Elliott Titterton was the victim of a homicide. Joe was killed by strangulation early that evening in the backyard of a co-worker in Irmo, South Carolina. The investigation is ongoing and we have no answers as to what happened that day, or why anyone would kill this young, disabled man. As of March 8th, the police still do not have anyone in custody for this horrific crime. We are in need of funds to help find the truth about Joe’s death.

About Joe:

At age 4, Joe suffered a stroke that ruined his left arm and leg. Despite hundreds of therapy sessions during his childhood, Joe never regained the use of his left arm or hand. He worked year after year to learn to do everything with one hand. His left arm remained contorted, painful, and useless. Joe did regain use of his left leg though it too was contorted and painful.

Joe preferred the term differently-abled not disabled. He did not allow his physical condition to interfere with reaching his goals. In 2011 he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in scouting. In 2016, he graduated Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Media. In the summer of 2017, Joe began his dream career in interactive and 3D design, and bought his first home in Lexington, South Carolina. Joe lived truth, honesty, and simplicity. His design work was clear and streamlined. His life was simple and uncluttered. He had a high moral standard and an amazing work ethic. He was a great listener and encouraged people to set their goals, break them down into steps, and set a timeline to them, then to get to work and sacrifice. He was wise beyond his years.

Joe would not want the killers to be able to do this to anyone else's family. To have anyone else suffer at their hands as we have. He was selfless.

He was an extraordinary young man and we miss him so much it hurts.

Your help is needed:

Joseph’s short life was filled with tragedy, sacrifice, joy and celebration. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. There were hundreds of times Joe faltered and fell, whether it was learning to ride his bike again, getting dressed and tying his shoes with one hand, or writing code and designing websites. He always got up, brushed himself off, and tried again. Joe sought to make the world a better place.

The funds raised will be used to find the truth about Joseph’s homicide, and to seek justice for this extraordinary, young differently-abled man.
