My husband has rare and hard-to-treat illnesses, including Giant Cell, CVST, and Takayasu's arteritis. He experienced four subdural hematomas last year, requiring ICU hospitalization and resulting in deficits. He also develops systemic blood clots, which necessitated open-heart surgery in 2021 to remove an inflammatory thoracic aortic aneurysm. We frequently visit Massachusetts General in Boston, a top institution for vascular care and autoimmune diseases. We will soon travel there again to consult a cardiothoracic surgeon about a newly discovered aneurysm and brain blood clot. Additionally, we will see his neurologists and rheumatologists. The expenses for these trips and possible surgery are mounting. We spoke with his neurosurgeon team from Mass General today, as well as his cardiovascular team. It does appear that surgery is a very good possibility, with more frequent trips from KY to Boston, MA, and lengthier stays.
We have had people ask us if we have a GoFundMe account, so I have created one for anyone who is willing to donate. We would greatly appreciate it.
