A Dance Opportunity of a Lifetime

In 2009, I found my passion in life - Tahitian dancing. Growing up, I was too shy to try new activities but I've always longed to find my sense of belonging; and I found this in my dancing.

All my stress and worries disappear when I step foot into my Halau (dance school). Spending countless hours in the studio has allowed me to forge lifelong friendships that I will cherish forever.

I've learned so much from dancing.  I am nowhere near where I want to be as a dancer, but seeing the progress I have made since I first started dancing motivates me to improve my skills.  I constantly push myself to be a better dancer and this has transferred into my daily life. 

I love the feeling of being on stage with my hula ohana (family) that I'm in 3 different classes, Kahaia (beginner/intermediate Tahitian), Aparima (slow Tahitian), and Tipanie (advanced Tahitian).

In July, my halau has been invited to perform in Farereira’a Tahiti 2015 presented by Coco Hotahota. Coco Hotahota is a living legend in Tahiti and I am excited to be part of this celebration. 

This festival is a gathering of people that practice the art of dance known as the Ori Tahiti. There will be groups from the United States including Hawaii, Japan, Mexico, and Europe that will be attending. 

What I am asking from you, my family and friends, is to help me fund my trip to Tahiti, the motherland of the Ori Tahiti, to share their love and passion for this culture. I think this will give me a better understanding of this special culture and help me grow as a dancer.

Entrance Fee to Festival: $200
Group Excursion to Moorea: $200

I want to thank all my teachers that have molded me into the dancer I am today. I could not be here without their constant motivation. Thank you to my family who has come to ALL of my performances over the years.
