As many of you may know, my husband Rigo and I are planning on moving our family to Seattle in the Summer of 2015. The main reasons for our move is to provide our son, Luis, with a better education, and to give Rigo an opportunity to grow more professionally. We are so excited to be close to my family, friends and our Esperanza family!
However, as you can imagine, this will not be an inexpensive move! In order for us to relocate, we need to apply for Rigo's green card, which can be a long and costly process. The green card will allow for him to live and work in the United States.
We have estimated that his green card will cost us a total of $1,800. First I must file a "petition for alien relative form" which costs $420. Once this form is approved (which hopefully it will be!) we must then apply for the actual green card which costs a whopping $1070. We then estimate an additional $300 in miscellaneous expenses such as a mandatory medical exam, pictures for his documents, fingerprinting, printing, copying, postage, etc.
We thought long and hard about whether we should reach out via a funding website but decided it was necessary as we have a new, and very expensive, addition to our family, Luis Adrian! Becuase I am not working right now, and Rigo earns less than what we would consider livable in the states, spending this kind of money is not really doable for us right now-- but it is a must if we want to provide a better education for our son and a better overall quality of life for our family. Anything helps and we are so grateful for any help you can provide, be it a donation or just in prayers :)
God Bless!
