With sadness: Final arrangements for Pich Choeun
Donation protected
On July 6th, my mother Pich Choeun was not feeling well and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She displayed severe symptoms related to COVID-19 and was tested positive shortly thereafter. She has been unable to breath on her own since admission and has been on life support for the past several days in the ICU at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, CA. The virus has spread to all of her organs. As of July 9th, she developed pneumonia and is currently being treated. She is not responding when we face time her through the help of an attending nurse. We are deeply saddened that this has taken such a sharp turn in just a blink of an eye.
My mother is a true hero to my family a has repeatedly demonstrated what it means to be a survivor. She survived the Khmer Rouge genocide along with my father and lost two children to starvation in the process. After making it to America, she and my father settled and Stockton, CA and created a beautiful life for me and my siblings, Sokha, Neary, Narin and Ricky. Her dream for us in America was to have dreams of our own and has never ceased to be a dedicated mother and grandmother. The Cambodian community in Stockton values her dearly as she volunteers her time to helping others through service and donation.
My family is asking for your help to cover hospital expenses and rehabilitation, traveling, hotel costs (while my father self-quarantines at home) and any other unexpected costs that may surface. Thank you so much for your kind attention and support.
