Help for Henry - 3 Peaks Challenge!

Henry is an adorable, cheeky 5 year old little boy - but this little boy suffers with a life limiting condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a muscle wasting disease, and so he is progressively getting weaker as his muscles waste away and become damaged. The average life expectancy of someone with DMD is only 27 years - this is absolutely heart-breaking. Henry already struggles with normal childhood activities such as running, walking and climbing. He cannot play football as he does not have the strength to kick the ball, he can't play Rugby or even a game of tag with his friends at school because he simply doesn't have the muscle strength to keep up and keep going. Henry will eventually lose the mobility in his legs and it is likely this will happen first, followed by his upper body. He will then need support to breathe as the muscles weaken further. As the condition deteriorates he will become more and more reliant on support from his wonderful family and specialised equipment.

So, therefore our fundraising has two objectives; firstly for research into DMD and hopefully the discovery of a magical cure, secondly to ensure Henry can access the vital equipment he needs for a positive future. Although our wonderful NHS does supply much of the equipment Henry so desperately needs, resources are limited. Henry is desperate for a wheelchair that enables him to keep on exploring the outdoors while he can, just like all 5 years should be able to do! We are hoping to raise enough money to buy Henry a disability trike too! Again giving him then freedom and chance to at least have access to the world as all five year olds should.

I will be doing the 3 Peaks Challenge in order to raise this money and every penny will go to Henry! Please dig deep and let's give Henry the best present ever...freedom to explore the world!
