Hello friends,
This beautiful girl is Gia, my 4-year-old English Bulldog. Just a year and a half ago, she was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding and backyard breeding situation, where she and 29 other bulldogs were kept in tiny crates, neglected and suffering. When the rescue first took her in, Gia had a broken front leg amongst other wounds and issues.
I met Gia while helping the rescue assess dogs with behavior challenges. They warned me she was unapproachable—that she would scream and cry if anyone came close. But on the day of her assessment, I sat quietly in her kennel, hoping simply to ease her fear. To everyone’s astonishment, she crawled into my lap and melted into me. In that moment, I knew she chose me and I chose her right back.
Since adopting her in December 2023, Gia has blossomed into the happiest, sweetest soul. She adores people, loves playing with other dogs and cats, and fills every room with joy.
Sadly, this year Gia began having head tremors, which have led to seizures. After extensive testing, she was diagnosed with gliomas—a type of brain tumor. She’s now on seizure medication, but her doctors recommend radiation and chemotherapy to help shrink the tumor and potentially allow for surgery.
We’re facing a very expensive road ahead, and I want nothing more than to give Gia the chance she deserves—to live her life free of pain, surrounded by love.
If you’re able to help us, whether through a donation or simply sharing Gia’s story, it would mean the world to us. Thank you for believing in second chances—for Gia and for dogs like her.
