Wheels for Brandon

Good news! We've found a like-new van with a much more agreeable price! We're looking at a roughly $16,000 (plus taxes/fees) for 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with 36,000 miles on it. With your help we've already raised about $7,500, half of which was raised on GoFundMe! We are just under 10k away from the total goal. If you share this page, we can cross the finish line and help make this life changing dream an affordable reality for Brandon.

We started a Go Fund Me page for our son Brandon to help him become confident, independent and successful.  We are raising funds to purchase a qualifying used or new minivan that is owned by Brandon so the van can be modified for Brandon to drive.

As you can see Brandon was born with a rare genetic disorder called diastrophic dysplasia, it's a rare form of dwarfism.  It happens once in every 500,000 births in the United States.  Diastrophic Dysplasia is caused by an autosomal recessive disorder on the gene called DTDST, which means both parents must carry this abnormal gene to have a child with diastrophic dysplasia.

In 1991, I was told by Dr. Steven E. Kopits that Brandon dysplasia was one of the worst cases the doctor had seen out of 97 patients.  Brandon has endured 14 surgical procedures which has left him with limited movement in his neck, back and he uses a powered wheelchair to get around.

Brandon’s dream is to be a successful independent person.  Brandon doesn't want to depend on his Dad and I to give him rides when it fits into our schedules.  He wants the ability to drive himself to work, to the store and go on dates.  Can you imagine all the doors that will open once he has a van that is modified to allow Brandon to drive?

Brandon and I toured a facility in Shakopee, Minnesota called Rollx Vans www.rolxvans.com.  This really gave Brandon a glimpse of what it could be like to have his dreams come true!  Just seeing the excitement on his face moved my heart to start this GO FUND ME.  That brings us here with you today, will you please help us make Brandons dreams come true together.  Any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated!

A very wise person said, a journey must start with the first step.  So here we are.

The funds will go to the purchase of a minivan with the highest safety features.
The features are a 360 camera, lane changing sensor, parking assist, rain sensing wipers, remote doors, adaptive cruise control
Goal is to raise $40,000
We have raised $2,120.00 through friends and family, now the goal is $37,880.00
Once Brandon has purchased a van, he can apply for a Government grant that will pay for the powered ramp and adapted controls to modify the van to fit Brandons needs.
Our timeline is 6 months to raise the funds, it will take at least a month to complete the modification to his van.  With your help Brandon could be driving by the spring of 2020.
