Help Support Calvin And His Family

Family, Community, and God. For anyone who has had the privilege of knowing the Anacaya family, these three things are known realities that make them who they are.

As an avid runner, Calvin Anacaya has used his hobby to not only maintain his own personal health but to uplift physical and personal growth in others. Through his career as a Physical Therapist, he has turned his passion into his life’s work. Additionally, he and his wife Eden have volunteered for nearly a decade as the coaches of the Cross Country team at La Sierra Academy, where all three of their boys have attended.

Through a battle with Stage 4 Thyroid Cancer that began 17 years ago, Calvin has been a steadfast supporter of his church and his childrens’ educational community. If there is an event, fundraiser, party, or outreach event, the Anacayas are not only present, they probably worked diligently behind the scenes to make sure everything worked as it should. They are fixtures of this community whose tireless work and dedication have been a blessing to so many.

Their three boys–Christian, Evan, and Caden–are the strongest testament to Calvin and Eden’s dedication to the family. Christian and Evan are currently enrolled in college, while Caden is finishing his Senior Year at La Sierra Academy. The boys, like their parents, are generous, helpful, and kind. They have been involved with student and spiritual leadership, athletics, and more–always with their parents supportively cheering them on.

The Anacayas are the family that you wish only good things for because they give so much good to those around them. And yet, on December 28, Calvin suffered a tragic accident while vacationing with his family for the holidays, which resulted in damage to the lower part of his cervical spine. After being rushed to the Emergency Room and undergoing surgery on December 30, Calvin remains unable to move his lower extremities. There is a road to recovery, but it will be long and arduous.

There is no doubt for those of us that know Calvin that he has the physical and mental strength to persevere through this adversity. The only obstacle now is a financial one. We, his friends and community who have benefited so much from the generosity of this family over the years, would like to rally behind him now in support and in hopes of repaying a small amount of the debt we owe. 2 Corinthians 9:6 says that a man who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. We aim to claim this promise for our dear friend.

Calvin is the sole source of income for the Anacaya family. All funds collected will go directly to the Anacayas to help relieve the financial burden of their normal monthly expenses, as well as medical care and an eventual medivac home when Calvin is stable enough to travel, living expenses for the family as they stay to support him, and eventual supplemental care and equipment to help fuel Calvin’s recovery. The recovery time has been estimated to be between six months to several years, but we are hopeful that Calvin can come back from this with the help of the three things that he values so highly–God, community, and family. Thank you for support!
