Second Chance at life

Donation protected
Hello my name Carmen Suarez and as some of you may know a year ago my brother Edwin was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease that requires a transplant in order for my brother to survive.

1 in 9 people suffer from kidney disease and currently there are approximately 4,700 individuals waiting on a donor in Illinois.

This diagnosis was a complete surprise to my brother and our family, my brother has always lived life with a positive attitude. After his diagnosis his attitude on living a positive life grew stronger despite being on dialysis four times a week three hours each day.

After discussing his option with his team of doctors my brother decided in order for him to survive this disease a kidney transplant was the best option instead of living life on dialysis, that is when the search for a kidney donor began. Thankfully we have a supportive family that stepped up and volunteer to go through testing to determine if they were a possible match. After both my sister and father were not a match my mother was up next. By the praise of God turns out my mother is a perfect match. With out hesitation my mother is giving my brother a second chance at life.

So now the journey begins. They both have been given the health clearance by their team of doctors to proceed with surgery. Surgery has been schedule for March 1, 2022 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

This process has been very challenging financially and mentally for my brother. This is why I have started this GoFundMe page. They have health insurance but there are numerous expenses that my mother and brother will endure before and after their surgeries; many of which their insurance will not cover.

Asking friends and family to donate is very hard for my brother to do as he never imagined he would be in a position of this sort. He has always been the one to help and give to others. At this time my family and I are asking for your support to help my mother and brother with this long, complicated, costly and overwhelming care pre and post kidney transplant. Your donation can help eliminate some of the financial burden and help my mother and brother focus on a healthy recovery and life. Any donation large or small is very appreciated if you are unable to donate please help by spreading the word with a simple share on any social media platform. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you in advance.
