Daisys Leg Surgery
Donation protected
Hi my name is Rebecca and I'm fundraising for Daisys Leg surgery alongside dog rescue, Dogs in Distress.
Firstly who are Dogs in Distress
Dogs in Distress is a small independent charity formed in 2011. We have directly rehomed over 100 dogs and funded the long term care of several elderly dogs. We aim to provide emergency treatment, care and temporary accommodation for many other dogs until long term care can be found. We also give financial assistance to other rescue groups to prevent healthy animals being destroyed and provide neutering. In recent years we have also helped in the rescue of dogs from various Eastern European countries. All our work is entirely voluntary and every penny raised goes directly to the welfare of animals in our care.
Daisy came into care of Dogs in Distress North East (a very small dog rescue based on Teesside) at 8 months old on 31st May this year. She has severe deformities of all 4 legs due to a combination of genetics, poor nutrition and being confined. She is a happy, lively, spirited puppy who just gets on with things and enjoys her new life immensely despite her disabilities and pain.
We have consulted Jonathan Deacon an orthopaedic specialist at Moorview Referrals Cramlington and had a CT scan to identify the problems and find a solution.
The outcome is that she needs surgery on all 4 legs at a cost of £4000 for each front leg and £3500 for each back leg total £15000. Without surgery her pain levels will increase and she will develop osteoporosis and her life will be shortened. We really want to give this girl her best life after having such a poor start but we will need help to raise sufficient funds
