Help Save 1 Year Old Kaliyah's Eye
Donation protected
UPDATE 4/15: Good news!! My bloodwork and urine sample came back perfect. So no diabetes - which is good. The doctor believes it is congenital cataracts and is genetically inherited. My family is continuing my medication and I am living a happy life for now, despite the loss of my left eye. Thank you everyone for your donations, shares and words of support. We are not out of the woods yet but we have a better understanding of what's going on, and a plan. We go back to the eye specialist on 4/22 and are grateful for any donation and/or share you can make. Thank you ❤️
Hi! My name is Kaliyah,
I am an energetic, playful, Chi-Poo rescue puppy turned trained service dog. My humans adopted me at 8 weeks old and I just celebrated my 1st birthday on 02/04/2024! I had a check up at the end of January 2024 and all was well, including my eyes - I was a perfectly healthy pup! I love love love belly rubs!! Also tug of war, long walks, burying bones and other treasures and being a companion.
A few weeks ago my humans noticed an odd tint in my eye when the light would hit it. We went to the eye specialist and found out that I have suddenly become blind in my left eye! What?!
As a 1 year old with a lot of life ahead of me my humans were devastated to learn of this new reality. How?! Why!? We're all shocked and trying to figure that out.
They think it is an aggressive form of cataracs that may be due to diabetes, but more testing is needed. There is a chance I will lose sight in the other eye too. How quickly that could happen is unknown...and it's scary for all of us. Especially considering there was no sign of anything just a couple months ago.
I'm happy to say that despite all of this I am still my playful, loving, energetic self. My humans are trying their best to save my remaining eye with medications while the doctors run tests. The cost of my medication, tests and vet visits are very high, and this is just the beginning of my journey; both in life, and now doing it as a partially (God forbid, fully) blind young lady.
All donations will go directly to my vet bills. Please consider donating to help me get the medical care I need. I will keep you all updated as we find out more.
Thank you,
Kaliyah & Family
