Water is Life - Let's Build a Well in Kenya!

Let me introduce you to James Kirisia and his wife Agnes (photo above)
James is one of one million Maasai people living in Kenya. Maasai culture is centered around the belief that God created cattle especially for them, and they are the custodians of all the world's cattle. For Maasai, life revolves around amassing and grazing large herds of cows. Hence, the need for water to allow the grasses to grow so the cows can graze,
James is a safari guide in Kenya and in May 2022, my husband, sister and I were lucky enough to have James be OUR guide. We immediately fell in love with James' personality and zest for life - he spoke of his wife Agnes with such admiration and of his two boys age four and six. James told us how his wife walks TEN MILES every other day to get fresh water for their family and of course, we couldn't believe what we were hearing - we just have to turn on the faucet and get all the fresh water we need! When I asked James to write about his feelings he said,
"As a Maasai first born, I must take care of my parents and younger siblings.
Water has always been a problem in most of the areas and where I live hasn't been spared...it is my dream that one day we can drill a well for my family and share with the community".
We kept hearing the Kenyan's say "Water is Life" and it is for that reason we want to have a well built for James' family and community of 600 people. This is a team effort and so far our team on the ground in Kenya is the Massai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT). They are helping us with the logistics of the project and we couldn't do this without them!
All the proceeds will go towards conducting a hydrological survey, hiring a qualified geological expert, permits from the National Environment Management Authority and Water Resources Authority, Borehole drilling, Test Pumping and Chemical Analysis.
As they say, "it takes a village" and we need you to help James and HIS village.
Just think, your generosity will allow James and more than 600 other Maasai to turn on their own fresh water, irrigate their land, sustain their cattle, grow vegetables and so much more! The photo below shows James at the location where water has been discovered and the well will be located.
Thank you in advance for your support - it is greatly appreciated! And remember,
Water is Life!
