Dylan's South African Studies

This will be my classroom from Aug. 20-Dec. 5. I am excited to learn about South Africa’s diverse cultures and evolving post-apartheid politics, volunteer in schools and conservation organizations, learn how to barter in local markets and meet the 15 other high school girls who will be in my class on this South Africa expedition.

We will study wildlife ecology in Chobe and Etosha National Parks. I hope to see a giraffe and a lion. I can't wait to share my pictures with you.

This is how we will ride. Our driver will take us through four countries - Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa -  in four months on a bus affectionately known as "Big Blue."
We will cook out and camp almost every night under the African stars with no cell service. I can't text, but I promise to write you a postcard if you donate to my trip. 

This is how we will play. Our PE will be soccer with the locals or group jogs and calisthetics. I hope to become a better soccer player.


I expect to get a lot of sand between my toes.
