Dylan's Road to Remission VEO-IBD Crohns Colitis

In 2016 at the tender age of 3 Dylan began bleeding & subsequently fell direly ill , within a few weeks after a mulitude of tests he was diagnosed with VEO-IBD , (Very Early Onset-InflammatoryBowelDisease) , Paediatric Crohn's disease- Ulcerative Colitis in it's most aggressive form.

It has no cure & is relentless in its attack on the digestive tract.

The pain is unbearable, no amount of opioids can stop it.

After 2 months in the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne with myself at his bedside , he was stable enough to return home.

With regular medical procedures , medications & careful monitoring he continued stable , however he has never been able to gain remission from this disease.

In January 2019 he again became chronically ill , was admitted to RCH for almost 2 months missing the first term of School.

Due to a perforated bowel he underwent emergency in surgery in March & began regular biological medicical infusions , many months have passed with no improvement or easing of the pain.

During the past several months he has been in & out of RCH , currently is an inpatient yet again in agonizing pain that the team can not stop or solve.

He is now facing major surgeries in an attempt to gain remission & some relief from the pain & suffering he is enduring.

Over these past few years our family has been separated during these hospital admissions with me at his side & Danny trying to work, carry out his volunteer fiirefighting duties as a CFA member & care for our other young children aged 5 & 8 years.

Danny is out of sick days , owes his employer 100 hours in arrears thus making the time in RCH very stressful financially & being a volunteer Firefighter with our local CFA brigade he is currently barely able to attend emergency callouts in these times.

We are asking for help no matter how small to assist us getting through until he reaches remission x
