Help Young Dylan Receive Life Changing Treatment

As a pediatric long-haul Covid patient - Dylan Smith is currently bedridden due to his over-all health and symptoms from the Covid virus

8 Minute Read

Hey there, Michael Smith here, father of a young man named Dylan. If you're not already aware, Dylan Smith of Easton Maryland is a young 14-year-old boy who's been bravely battling a severe disorder with his immune and nervous system since February, 2022. For Dylan, it all started with becoming sick with the Covid virus back in January of 2022 at the age of 11. By May 2022, Dylan began experiencing a decline in his functional mobility and by June that same year, he took his last independent steps and he hasn't walked on his own since then. Dylan, now 14, has been sick for over two years now. Dylan is medically considered a pediatric long-haul Covid patient.

We need your help accomplishing our dreams. One of our dreams is to see Dylan walk again on his own. We have a dream of seeing Dylan eat again on his own without the need of a feeding tube and a fluid formula diet. We dream of the day when Dylan can return to school. We dream of the day when Dylan can interact with his friends and folks of his own age again. But most of all, my dream is to know that if something happens to me that Dylan and his mother, Stacey, will be OK - I need to know that Dylan won't have to depend on his mother and I for life's simplest of tasks and responsibilities. We're motivated to do whatever it takes to get Dylan better. If you've made it this far in this post, then I believe that you are as well - eager to see something positive happen for this young teenage boy, regarding his health and quality of life. And I thank you for that!

So, how can we make our dreams come true? Well, as the result of many hours of research and good leads from dear friends, we are excited to tell you that there is real hope for recovery from Dylan's debilitating disorder as a long-haul Covid patient! There's an out-of-state, out-patient rehabilitation clinic performing what some might describe as miraculous work on folks from all walks of life - folks suffering from life altering disabilities, to include long-haul Covid patients, just like Dylan! We've actually conversed with a couple of families whose child is either currently in treatment or whose child has completed treatment and is now living a normal, happy life again without concern of setbacks. This particular clinic is dedicated to not only healing patients but also ensuring their long-term wellness extends far beyond their direct care. Click here to learn more about the rehabilitation clinic we have researched. This is a revolutionary finding that Stacey and I, as parents of a child in desperate need, must pursue. But we need your help to make this venture happen and all it entails.

As you can imagine, such a venture is one that will come at a significant cost. A venture not currently covered by health insurance companies. That's why we're here. We need the support of those who can afford a compassionate helping hand. Below is a rough estimate of the financial cost of the projected four month treatment regimen.

1) $4,000.00-6,000.00, weekly dues, according to the amount and type of treatments received, due each week, totaling $64,000.00-80,000.00

2) $2,000.00-$3,000.00 monthly cost of housing, totaling $8,000.00-$12,000.00

3) $600.00 monthly cost of vehicle rental, totaling $2,400.00

4) Miscellaneous; traveling expenses, groceries, loss of income while involved in caring for and supporting your child while they're receiving treatment away from home

We must try all reasonable avenues, no matter the cost involved to see it through. We must save our young son's life or at least try everything possible to do so! This particular venture is so important because there is real promise that we can get our son's life back! Whether it's your child or mine, I know we can both agree, neither case should ever have to suffer or have their chance at a fulfilling life get taken away.

With this treatment, by the close of this calendar year, our son, Dylan, may very well achieve a level of health and vitality that's escaped him for over two years now! That would be a real dream come true.

We need your help in making our dream come true. We need your help giving Dylan a chance at life again. Now, I know you can imagine how hard it is to ask for so much help from others like I am asking of you right now; but believe me, it's so much harder watching an innocent child struggle to live and find hope for a future worth looking forward to. We need the help of you, our community, in making our dreams for Dylan come true.

If we band together and cast a wide enough net around our neighbors, then I know we can solve the financial side of this equation - giving our family the ability to focus on getting Dylan to and through the rehabilitation program, starting this June!

If 2,000 of our able neighbors offer $50.00 each, then our financial goals of affording this venture will be of no concern.

Dylan's sickness is real. And the past two and a half years have been long and real - real hard. I know we're not the only family going through stuff, but that doesn't change our reality or the reality that our circumstance is heartbreaking in its own right. We may not be alone in hard times but it's still hard times none-the-less. The encouraging news learned from the treatment facility I spoke of earlier and the family's who have gone through it and the ones that are currently going through treatment there now, has been nothing short of pure satisfaction and joy. Dylan deserves some of that. You and I, together - we're going to make sure Dylan has the opportunity to achieve some of that!

There's not much we can offer you in return right now, but I assure you, your support will never be forgotten. Your support will never be taken for granted.

Follow us on our site: howisdylan.com. There, we'll post weekly about Dylan's journey to recovery, starting this June! Before you know it, we'll be posting positive news about Dylan's progress - I just know it! Until then, we thank you for your time and considerations towards our cause of getting our son's life back!

Side-note; if you know anyone who is ill that can gain insight from our experience then please send them to our site: howisdylan.com. From there, anyone can contact us. If there's any help we can provide, we'll gladly do so.
