This summer, our twin brothers, Alex and Kellen, will embark on a 32-day cycling journey across seven countries to honor the memory of our late father, Dylan Remley. On October 25, 2021, our family lost our beloved husband and father to cancer, just after his 51st birthday.
My father was an avid outdoorsman who loved to ski, bike, fish, kayak and explore the world. He was a skilled rower in high school and college, competing at the national level, and he had a brilliant mind and a compassionate heart, always eager to help others.
Our parents instilled in all four of their children a strong sense of empathy, community and commitment to giving back. Prior to his cancer diagnosis, Dylan, along with his brothers and close friends, participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a cycling fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He also served on various community organizations, such as the Westport YMCA, Westport Public Library, Sudbury Planning and Zoning Board, Goodnow Library Foundation and the American Red Cross.
With every advantage and access to world-class healthcare in Boston, my father courageously battled cancer for three years. He cherished every moment he had with his family and friends, and was deeply aware of the tragedy of those with little or no access to health care.
As a freshman at Cornell University, I am currently studying global health and committed to addressing health and nutritional issues that are impeding people around the world. In honor of our father’s legacy, my older brother, Matter, and I are raising funds for the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Global Health. Your donation will go directly to this organization, which works to improve the health of people in resource-poor countries through research, training and service. Moreover, the WCM Center for Global Health is actively working to break down barriers that hinder women’s leadership in global health.
The inspiring journey of our twin brothers cycling in honor of our father, has motivated my older brother and me to join in their efforts. Please consider making a donation to support this meaningful cause and follow our blog as we track Alex and Kellen on their bikes across Europe from coast to coast!
