Hi my name is Leslie, I’m a family friend of Andrew (Drew) Hail father of Dylan Carr-Hail, who was tragically hit on his motorcycle whilst on his way to work by a Heavy Vehicle on the Great Western Highway Hazelbrook NSW Friday 3rd of July 2026.

Dylan has sustained life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Westmead hospital. The injuries are to numerous to list, however Dylan is in the ICU and is facing back to back surgeries to save his life.

Dylans Father Andrew Hail, Mother Libby Carr, Brother Adam Carr and Aunty Rebecca Hail are traveling to Westmead hospital daily to be at Dylans side. Both Andrew and Dylan and Katoomba born and raised locals. At lot of you will know Andrew (Drew) from his time at Mitre 10 Blackheath and until recently the legend who delivered for Papadinos Pizza.

we know times are tough and fuel is expensive, despite the hardships the family is facing, rent still needs to be paid and the family dog banjo still requires a full belly.

Two week update.

Initially Dylan had a response to mum and dad’s voice, from here there have been further complications. After a 12 hour operation blood clots were found, one beside his heart and two in his leg, a hole was also detected in Dylan’s heart causing a build up of fluid.

With this Dylan was again put into a medically induced Coma.

More surgeries to come, he is currently listed as Critical but Stable
