Arthur “Art” Facultad Matillano, 62, loving husband and father of four, suddenly passed away on June 23, 2020. His easy smile and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Art was born in the Philippines on Dec. 1, 1957. The 3rd of 7 children of Mitzi and Luciano, Art immigrated with his family to Chicago in 1968. Quick to fall in love with his adopted country, he would later enroll at Kelvyn Park High School on the northwest side, playing on the varsity basketball team and cultivating a strong work ethic that would remain with him throughout his life.

Art was a devoted family man. His beloved wife Rowena, whom he sweetly called “Missy,” made a mental note when they were dating that he was especially good with children. "Tito Art" was a doting uncle who would give his nieces special nicknames and take them to the zoo, memories they all fondly remember decades later. Rowena knew how good of a father Art would be - and what an accurate prediction that was. As the father of Joshua, Ashley, Hannah and Caleb, he always made time for games, trips to Noah's Ark, and most recently, making sure he was in front of the television with Ashley for Sunday airings of "The Last Dance," the documentary about his Chicago Bulls. He was a loyal fan of all Chicago teams, with one exception (sorry, White Sox) and will always be remembered as joyful, devoted, kind and generous.

For 33 years, he was a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service with 15 years of dedicated service to families on route 88 in Evanston. His supervisor said the entire office is in mourning and lauded him as a once-in-a-lifetime individual, "someone who not just loved their job, but was good at it." He was proud to provide an essential service, and proud to wear the USPS uniform.

He was known as “Titing" to his parents and siblings, "Dad" to his children, "Art" to his many friends at Quentin Road Baptist Church. He will be cherished by all his loved ones until they meet again, including his parents Mitzi and Luciano; his son Joshua and daughter-in-law Shelby; his daughter Ashley; his daughter Hannah Julian and son-in-law Josh Julian; his son Caleb and daughter-in-law Bethany; and his siblings, Jane Tiojanco, Luciano Jr., Lucien, Arnold, Susan Becker, and Leo. He was a doting grandfather to twins Owen and Grey Julian. Most of all, he will be dearly missed by the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Rowena, who affectionately called him "Honey.”

Because of the free gift of salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9) we can know it's not goodbye, but see you later - and we look forward to seeing his smile again.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 30 at Quentin Road Baptist Church in Lake Zurich, IL. Visitation at 6pm with memorial to follow at 7pm. The service can also be viewed via livestream at quentinroad.org . In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Quentin Road Baptist Church.
