Chris Dykes is 46 years old. He was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at age 13. Approximately 10 years ago during a routine scan, it was discovered that he was born with only one kidney. He began seeing a Nephrologist and at that time was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney failure. Over time his kidney gradually got worse. Chris was told that he would need to start preparing for dialysis in the future.
In spring of 2016 Chris was told he was eligible to start the process for a kidney transplant. After Chris applied he was accepted to be assessed at Baylor in Dallas. June 2016 Chris went to Dallas for two days of pre-transplant testing for a Simultaneous Kidney-Pancreas transplant. In September 2016 Chris was placed on the list to receive a Pancreas and Kidney! Praise the Lord! He and his family are are currently awaiting the phone call to tell them it is time to rush to Dallas for the transplants! Through Prayer and Faith in God, he has not had to start dialysis yet. Once the transplant is completed, he will be in the hospital approximately one week. After being released from the hospital Chris will have to stay in Dallas 4-6 weeks and needs someone to be with him during this time. He will be off work the entire time. His wife hopes to be able to stay with him as much as possible, but will not be paid while she is off work. This will most definitely cause some significant financial hardships for them. Not only will they be out of work for a while, they have two sons in college and this could leave them without monetary support. Let's all pull together and help this precious family in their time of need!
