Securing a New Apartment

On Tuesday October 18th, Andrew and I came home from work to our apartment building in Bushwick with a padlock on the door and all of the lights in the building out. Upon calling our building manager he informed us that a fire took place while we were at work. We were given the code to the padlock, and walked to find our apartment covered in glass with all of our windows smashed in. The entire building was black with soot, the electricity was out, and shattered glass was everywhere. The damage to building from the fire was extremely severe, and has caused our building to be uninhabitable. The landlord hasn’t given a repair timeline yet but it looks to be unliveable for at least a few months. We both work full-time, but an unexpected housing emergency is going to be expensive, and we’ll take all the help we can get. Thank you.
