"Celebrate the Border" mural

This mural will be for Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA), a non-profit organization that for over 35 years has given low-income Texans access to justice.
In El Paso County, TRLA provides free, high quality legal services in many areas of civil law. TRLA takes on cases that have been rejected by private attorneys because they are too risky, too complicated and/or not lucrative. Without TRLA, thousands of people would remain powerless and silent bystanders to the injustice they experience. Day in and day out, TRLA attorneys and staff fight "David versus Goliath" type of legal battles against domestic violence abusers, exploitative employers, polluters, slumlords, con men, government agencies, and many others. In El Paso alone, TRLA advocates handle cases that impact thousands of families each year. The mural will be on a large wall of the TRLA building, which is located on a busy street just blocks from downtown El Paso. The subject of the mural will be the border that separates our 2 nations and El Paso From Ciudad Juarez. The Rio Grande river divides the United States from Mexico but at the same time it brings us together, nourishing the land and its people. El Paso, the largest city on the US / Mexico border, is a unique blend of the 2 countries with a long and vibrant history. I hope to catch the essence of our city and the border culture in this mural that will serve as a landmark as well as a tribute to the people from both sides of this natural and man- made barrier.
