Kate's Healing Journey

Hello to Kate’s friends, loved ones, and invaluable community members (from near and far):

First and foremost, Kate and her family are profoundly thankful for the remarkably generous response to my initial GoFundMe page. Words can’t properly convey the gratitude, but please know that every donation has helped to sustain hope, energy and a feeling of support from her community. I submitted a target fundraising goal of $15, 000 and donators far surpassed this by raising $31, 200 !!!

I wanted to provide an update on Kate’s response to cancer. She has been fighting tooth and nail for her health and healing, every second of every day. From day 1, Kate asked her oncologist to respond swiftly and aggressively to the cancer. Despite the brutal side-effects that resulted from each round of chemotherapy, Kate somehow managed to attend naturopathic and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments, and to continue working as a therapist, all while being a mother to her precious 3 year old daughter. Kate also attended an outstanding healing/recovery treatment centre at Cougar Mountain Therapy in BC. Scans have suggested the treatments have been helping to stop the cancer’s progression.

Because Kate is a fierce fighter, she is always working on research and potential treatment pathways. Kate is staying focused on long-term survival to give herself, her daughter, Maya and her husband, Danny, every possible chance of being here in the long-run. As such, she has been considering treatment options beyond what our Canadian medical system can provide. Currently, Kate plans to carry on with the new course of oncology treatment as well as her regular naturopathic, TCM and psychology therapy appointments, and a return to the outstanding healing centre in July to Cougar Mountain. These treatments, in addition to the ones she may need to pursue in the future, are very costly.

It is with a deeply grateful and humble heart, that I am turning to you all again to ask for your support. Given the tremendous results from the first target of $15, 000, I am going to ask for another $15, 000 and see how things go. Please know that your love, prayers, meditations and donations ALL help Kate and her family every day as they work incredibly hard to survive and heal through these difficult times.
