Jessica’s Cancer Journey
As some of you may recall, Jess was diagnosed with a fast-growing form of breast cancer in July 2018. The last two years have consisted of 37 rounds of radiation, sixteen weeks of chemotherapy, a double-mastectomy, two reconstructive surgeries and estrogen suppressors.
In early October, after weeks of severe back pain, Jess learned that the breast cancer had returned and was considered Stage 4. The cancer was found in her spine, as well as areas of her skull and pelvis. Doctors quickly decided that surgery was needed to remove a 3 cm tumor that was located on the T8 vertebrae. The tumor was applying pressure to her spinal cord and if not removed, would have resulted in Paralysis.
Currently, Jess is recovering from the spinal surgery and preparing for radiation treatments that are planned to begin in two weeks. Once the rounds of radiation are finished, she will begin oral chemotherapy indefinitely.
Jess has been fighting this fight for the last two years but she hasn’t been fighting alone. Her parents, husband (Michael Spears), sister and two beautiful daughters (ages 4 and 3), have been by her side and will continue to be her light during this difficult time. Those who know Jess and her family, know how incredible they are and how they deserve the very best. Your kind donation will go directly to Jess and her family while she continues her fight against Stage 4 breast cancer.
