Corey Sexton and his family's road to recovery

Donation protected
Corey Sexton began feeling unwell on March 19th. Thinking he was having sinus issues, he soldiered on until he was admitted in the hospital a few days later.  His family assumed he would be out in a few short days but in that amount of time Corey had to be placed on a ventilator. He is O2 was at 49% and it was critical.  From this point it was a roller coaster, most days it was “one step forward and two steps back”. Any procedure he needed, including a bed bath, would plunge his oxygen back into dangerous areas. It wasn’t until April 2nd until they finally got the positive Covid test results. There was a brief time in the middle of this journey where things began to look better. His family was told he would be taken off the ventilator within a few days but that didn’t happen. On April 7th, his wife had to make a choice to take him off the vent and allow him to pass or place a tracheotomy and keep him on the vent for an unknown amount of time. It was uncertain,at this point, if he would ever get better. His wife, April, kept the faith and placed him on the trached vent. They were devastated with the news but knew God had a bigger plan for Corey and they trusted in his plan. Within a few weeks, Cory began coming out of sedation and by God’s grace and Corey’s strength, many monumental hurdles have been conquered. It has been nothing short of astounding.

Now, the Sexton family are very special people who have been through more than their share of trials. In the past 10 years have lost two kids, a sister, and a father. I can’t even begin to fathom the grief they have endured. We give thanks to God for choosing to keep Corey with them, he truly is a modern day miracle. Corey has now been out of work a couple of months and it’s unknown when he will be able to return, as this will depend on recovery time. They are looking into many programs, long term disability and more for help. The first hospital bill that was received totaled $500,000. They do have insurance and April states that’s it’s a very good insurance but many additional bills are expected and some of the insurance claims have been rejected already. The loss of income and steady stream of bills will make a difficult situation much more so. This account is here to help lessen the burden on the Sextons during this time.  We thank you for your help in lifting up this family in prayer and, if you are able, with your financial support.  God bless you.
