My name is Michael Brown, a hair stylist in Charleston SC.
My friend and neighbor, Maia, is 4 years old and has leukemia. She is undergoing a two year battle of treatments, which get more complicated due to setbacks of numerous hospital stays for high fevers.
Maia discovered she had cancer in November 2014. She has two loving parents, Matt and Alana, and a baby sister, Eva, born in October 2014. Matt stays home with the children, while Alana works very long hours on the night shift as a nurse at the Medical University of SC.
I've watched this family go through many challenges every day.
