Junior High Senators Trip

Donation protected
Angel Delarosa has the opportunity of a lifetime to go on a Junior High Senators Trip, if we can raise the money that is...

A little about Angel.

She is a 13 year old 8th grader.  She has been on the honor roll all of her educational life, takes AP classes, has been an amazing tutor for her friends and little sisters and is a member of the National Junior Honors Society.  She also plays basketball, volleyball, tennis, and is an active member of the student council.  All of this, and that's just at school.

At home she is a tremendous help with the care of her 3 younger sisters, always quick to help friends and family with whatever they need, collects donations for the local food bank, and spends what little "free time" she has being exceptionally artistic whether it be making gifts with polymer clay, doing intricate braids in any hair she can get her hands on, making her own clothing, or just sitting down with pen and paper.

All in all, this is one young woman who is deserving of a vacation disguised as an educational trip.  A young woman who has overcome the stereotypes of a Puerto Rican growing up in a family of 6 on one meager but hard earned income.  A young woman who could reach the stars if given the opportunity.

If you are a resident of Arizona, a donation is eligible for a tax credit of $200 (single) $400 (married) if you wish to write a check directly to the school.  If you are an Arizona resident and would like to recieve this credit you must write the check out to Flowing Wells Junior High and include the name Angel Delarosa on the memo line.  This will get you a receipt for the donation and ensure that the money goes towards Angel's account.

Following is the letter that Angel wrote and sent out to local businesses as a means to gather funds.  Though we have yet to hear back from anyone.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Angel DeLaRosa and I am an eighth grade student at Flowing Wells Junior High. At our school there is an event called the Senator's Trip where about fifty students get to go to Pennsylvania, New York, and Washington D.C.

This trip is very educational and is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. On this trip we get to experience many historical phenomena such as memorial, monuments, and museums. Some of the things we see include The Statue of Liberty, The White House, The 9/11 Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, Ellis Island, The Empire State Building, The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and The Smithsonian Museums. This trip is an incredible opportunity to have a hands-on experience with some of the most historical buildings in the United States.
The reason I am contacting you is to seek your help. As you have probably noticed this trip costs a lot of money that I cannot make up myself. Altogether the trip costs $2,399.00. Anything you can donate will help and I am grateful for any money you can contribute to my trip.

I am very grateful for any donations you can make and just for the opportunity to go on this trip. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and thank you in advance for any donations you are able to make.

If you have any questions or concerns about donations or about the trip please contact me at [email redacted].

Sincerely,
Angel DeLaRosa
