The last year has been particularly difficult. Last year when spring thaw happened, our sump pump broke down and our basement completely flooded, destroying a lot of our cherished memories including childhood stuffed animals, luggage and my husband’s hockey equipment. Flash forward a couple months and it was time to turn on our central air, only to discover that the flood had damaged the connections and burned out the compressor. We waited patiently until September for the new part to arrive since it was still under warranty however it never did. When it came time to turn on our heat, we found that the furnace had been damaged by the a/c unit going out and they fixed it temporarily but now it’s gone out again and we need the funds to repair it so our pipes and everything don’t freeze before it finally gets warmer. Any little bit you can donate helps but the full amount we need to replace the unit and the wiring that got damaged is $7000.

Going last year without proper heat and a/c really affected my health and I’m still struggling to get back to 100% and now with the USA putting tariffs on everything, my husband’s auto union job is in possibly jeopardy. There’s no way we can afford these repairs on my salary alone if he gets laid off. I’m terrified of what’s going to happen next.
