URGENT APPEAL Aid for Afghanistan Earthquake

We from the Australian Afghan Hassanian Youth Association (https://www.aahyas.org.au) would like to extend our support to the vulnerable and unfortunate Afghan’s following the recent devastation that took place in Afghanistan, Series of earthquakes hit Herat Province in western Afghanistan between on 7 and 15 October 2023. As of 19 October there have been 1482 deaths, 2100 injuries, 3330 homes destroyed, 43,400 people directly affected and 40 health facilities damaged.

 Our condolences go out to the people of Afghanistan & the Australian-Afghan community, who have lost so many brothers and sisters in the disaster. Food aid and cash are in demand so that people can buy supplies. Emergency shelter is also needed for people who have lost their homes. People are physically digging with their hands.

AAHYA is launching this campaign to assist them with Food packages, clothing and temporary shelter.

Each donation is tax deductible as AAHYA is a public benevolent institution and a deductible gift recipient which means any 1 dollar spent on donations can be returned at tax time. We are also currently ACFID Interim Full Members. The Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) is the peak Council for Australian not-for-profit aid and development organisations. The Australian Afghan Hassanian Youth Association is a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct, which is a voluntary, self - regulatory sector code of good practice. As a signatory we are committed and fully adhere to the ACFID Code of Conduct, conducting our work with transparency, accountability and integrity.

 AAHYA will work with partners and community members to respond to this crisis as much as we can.
