Dwight needs hip replacement surgery

 My name is Suzan Pavlis and I’m a finance professor at The University of Tennessee.  I live in Knoxville, Tennessee.

 
Me and some of my colleagues set up a GoFundMe site for Dwight who is a custodial person in the building I work in.  Dwight needs a hip replacement, but cannot afford the out of pocket expenses for the surgery and the after-care.  Me and my colleagues contributed to this site so that he could get the surgery.  I am responsible for the use of the funds that have been collected.

 

The funds will be used to pay his medical expenses, including the surgeon’s fee, the hospital, the anesthesiologist and physical therapy.  I have a debit card which I use to pay for these expenses.  I will distribute some of these funds to purchase gift cards to Kroger and Walmart for groceries.  Dwight will be out of work for 6 weeks after his surgery on May 4, 2022.  If any funds are left over after all of his medical expenses are met, we are hoping Dwight will agree to put them into his retirement account.

Dwight’s doctor is Dr. Matthew Nadaud of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic and we have been in contact with Pamela Rollins, his pre-surgery coordinator, who has given us estimates for the surgeon, the facility and the anesthesiologist.
